Theeuwes printed a blue pattern on to a white fabric that is then dissolved in water, leaving a blue resin on the wearer’s skin.
‘I wondered: ‘how can I dissolve’?’ says Theeuwes. ‘Then I started to think: ‘how can textiles dissolve?’ After the material has vanished
in the water, the blue substance is no longer confined to the material structure,’ says Theeuwes. ‘It becomes totally chaotic as it no longer has a fabric to stand on.’
